After that Yahoo entered the mashup market with its Pipes product, it could not be long until Google would do the same. And they, did with their new Google Mashup Editor product that just opened to a limited number of test users. What's surprising is that this editor is really a lot less visual than Yahoo! Pipes. It's not visual at all in fact. What is interesting to see is that apparently Google also managed to create a code highlighting component for it, as you can see in this screenshot:
Mashups are combinations of different web services into one more useful service. For example you can "mash" a real estate's house offerings with Google Maps so you can see where the real estate agent has houses for sale.
Personally I don't care all that much about mashups, but they're really hot right now, so what can you do.
